Friday Stress Test, Nuclear Scanning, Stress Echo, Echo, Carotid Dopplers

Preparation Information
Ultrasound 1) Abdomen, Kidney or Gallbladder: NOTHING to eat or drink after midnite.
2) Pelvic: Drink 4-5 glasses of water 30 minutes proir to appointment. DO NOT URINATE.
Nuclear Tests 1) HIDA, Gallbladder, Liver: NOTHING to eat or drink 4 hours prior to examination.
2) Thyroid: Discontinue any thyroid medication 6-8 WEEKS prior to examination. Must NOT have any iodine study within 6-8 WEEKS prior to examination.
Cardiac Stress Tests 1) Please arrive 10 minutes prior to appointment
2) NOTHING to eat or drink 4 hours before the first part of your test. You will be able to eat after the stress portion is completed. Bring a snack: juice, crackers, fruit etc.
3) No smoking, No caffeine (e.g. coffee, tea, pepsi, coke, mountain dew, chocolate, or alcohol) 24 hours before the test.
4) Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and walking shoes with rubber soles.
5) If you are currently on Digoxin (Lanoxin, Digitek), beta-blockers (Atenolol, Toprol, Coreg, Inderal etc.) or calcium channel blockers (Cardizem, Verapamil), hold the morning dose until the test is complete. DO NOT take your morning dose of medications. Bring all of your medications with you.
6) Bring your insurance card, driver's license, insurance referral and the doctor's form.
7) The cardiac stress test will take approximately 3 hours.
